The Grand Finale of the ‘Safe on skis’ campaign.

22 february 2019

I guess we must have been especially good this year. The weather has been extremely kind to us during this year's campaign. There has been everything that an educational winter campaign needs. Sun, snow and skiers. The "Grand finale" has come to an end.

"Safe on Skis" is a unique form of educating. We don’t want to bore with the rules of safe skiing or snowboarding. Instead we want to interest, amuse and educate our participants, at the same time leaving them with a large dose of knowledge for much longer than the few hours of the event.

Are we successful in doing this? We are sure we are. This is evidenced not only by the feedback we receive but by the smiles on the faces of our participants. But alas, all good things must come to an end and the last official event of 2018/2019 is behind us.

We said goodbye to participants during the event organized on the slopes at ‘GrapaSki’ in Czarna Góra. As always, there was lots of sunshine (thank you, good weather!), lots of fun, lots of education to prevent accidents and, as always, first aid lessons from the Podhale Rescue Team. There were alco-goggles that, as our observations show, are very popular among skiers and snowboarders. As is our tradition we ‘transported’ everyone to the world championships in cross-country skiing, thanks to our special ski ergo-meter. Our youngest participants took part in numerous specially prepared activities. There were also warning signs and screens with fun animations. At 1pm  there was a medical rescue show. All of this was conducted to the rhythm of music under the watchful eye of our compere.

Of course, there were plenty of competitions and prizes to be won.

Patrons of the "Safe on skis" project are Sports Minister Witold Bańka and the Nowy Targ County Governor, Krzysztof Faber.
